ok, I think  there is a problem with government grants.  I am asking for information for a friend of mine.  She told me she has looked at these "grants"  and everytime she fills out a form, the grant people ask for her to send in money.

Some of them ask for a lot of money, just to get started.

Now, here is the rub.   If she had the money to send in for the grants, she wouldnt need the grants.  There is something wrong here. I thought grants were free.  Whats wrong here?

in response to Starshine...   STARSHINE'S, JUST RECEIVED SOME EMIALS HERE FROM AIDPAGE. IN YOUR MESSAGE ABOVE MENTIONS YOU TRIED BILL GATE'S. NO, HE ONLY HELPS THE PEOPLE IN HIS CATIGORY. THE WEALTHY HELP THE WEATHY, AND THE POOR HELP THE POOR. BUT THAT IS OKAY, WHO SAYS YOU HAVE TO BE RICH TO BE HAPPY. HOW MANY WEALTHY PEOPLE DO YOU KNOW THAT ARE DEAD NOW? AND IT'S ALL THE POOR THAT ARE ALIVE AND THEY COUNT THEIR BLESSINGS FOR THE SMALL THINGS IN LIFE. I AM SO THRILLED THAT SOMEONE HAD STARTED AIDPAGE. THIS SITE BEATS ALL THE OTHER'S IN MY OPINION. I LOVE BEING ABLE TO GO ON AND SEND A MESSAGE TO YOU, STARSHINE OR SOMEONE ELSE, AND KNOW THAT YOU ALL UNDERSTAND AND CARE. YOU ALL ARE SO HELPFUL IN SO MANY WAYS. HAVE A WONDERFUL EVENING AND KNOW THAT WE ARE ONE "BIG" FAMILY. SANDAR35

ahhh, but the point that I am seeing in your post is that you tried one person one time -

Personally I'm still rooting for you to make it from working at home.  Your blog here on Aidpage shows that you have the skills to do research and organize information - that's a talent that one shouldn't take likely.

in response to Starshine...   Can't say that I agree with you 100%.  Just doing a general research there are over 500,000 links to sites with advice on how to contact / write rich people and ask them for money.  I'm not saying that they are all legit but until you have investigated them all (or at least the majority of them) you really can't say 100% for sure that it is something that couldn't possibly work.

in response to Roseb441702...   No no on writing millionaires. There was a segment on tv about that and they don't read all of them. Like the celebrites etc and some ie the celebrities don't have the money or are not going to give it to people. One celbrity did invite a couple over telling them he couldn't help them financially.

in response to Clare...   Actually I couldn't believe it when I saw it but there are actually online articles that tell you how to write to millionaires and ask them for money so you might even have a chance!

in response to Roseb441702...   thank you for the information.  I hope my friend can get her mortgage straightened out.  I feel she is on the right track now.  Again, thanks for the information. Now, tell us ( all the downtroden citizens) how we can find our Rich Uncle( put the name in here) and get him to give us the money we deserve

 in response to Clare...

I tried sending you a private message but for whatever reason I couldn't.

The sites you are talking about are third-party sites - meaning they are asking a fee because of the work that they did gathering the information.  However how they "gathered" the information is the same thing that you can do by just simply going online and researching for the information.  That is how they got the information (without paying for it) and that is how you can get the information without paying for it.

As far as the second part of your post about the mortgage payoff - general speaking the grant programs in general do not pay off an entire mortgage but what they do is help you with making arrangements to pay off your mortgage better.

 in response to Roseb441702...

my friend has an animal rescue program.  She has rescued some horses and  donkeys whose owners either didnt have the time to trim the hooves( have you ever seen a horse with hooves so long they look like a pair of skis?) or they didnt know how to train the horses( and donkeys) how to stand still for a farrier.

She has looked at the animal rescue grant sites, and has reported to me that these sites want money .  Money she just doesnt have.  Besides needing money for her rescue operation, she also needs money to pay a mortgage off on her home.  A relative of hers took out the mortgage without her knowledge.  I guess the pay off is quite high.

I want to help my friend as much as I can.  I realize she needs to fill out the forms herself, but if I can find these No Fee for application grants, then I will have done my part.

Of course I just did answer a post from you but here are some things that I am going to add:

First you haven't mentioned what type of grant your friend is looking for.  If its for something like paying utility bills or needing rent or mortgage assistance then your friend should contact their nearest social services agency because that is what they are there for.  They provide services for the community - including individuals and since they are a "branch" of the government then they would best know about grant programs that the government has - especially if you can be considered low-incomed.

Grants are really free money but you really have to be careful.  I have seen some programs that call themselves grant programs but they want you to send in an "administration" fee - so I really don't consider these grant programs - but that's just my opinion.

Finding this kind of information takes a lot of work and research - almost like finding a "needle-in-a-haystack" - visit a few sites from actual grantwriters and you will see what I mean.

The solution for your friend would be to find the information theirselves.  There have been lots of mentions and posts about grant programs here on Aidpage so you should look at some of the past posts which include lots of valuable information.

And again the most important thing is it will really depend on the type of grant program that your friend is looking for.
